In the vineyards in Tovuz, European, local, as well as those grape varieties that are traditionally found in the Caucasus are grown: Rkatsiteli, Bayan Shirey, Cabernet France, Merlot, Chardonnay, Mattress, Riesling and others, a total of several hundred, although not all of them are used for the production of wine on an industrial scale. Such varietal diversity is due not only to the long history of viticulture, which counts more than one millennium but also to the variety of climatic zones that allowed the appearance of varieties with different characteristics.
